After taking two
busses, two shuttles, a taxi, and a ferry and traveling through four different
countries, we finally made it to Ometepe, Nicaragua (this included sleeping on
the ferry for a night). It is such a beautiful place and we have been truly
blessed to be in this location this month. We are working at an orphanage
called CICRIN, which is a major change of pace from last month. Working with orphans
is something I have never done before, but I know this is something that will
God will continue to use to strengthen me in my walk. I was scared at first
because change can sometimes be a little scary, especially when it is out of my
comfort zone, but I am excited for the new challenges that will arise this
month.

Our ministry
contact’s name is Helen and she has been at the
orphanage for 20 years. She is truly an amazing person and it is so cool
to see her faith in this place. The work we will be doing at the orphanage
varies and can range from working in the garden for the produce they use in
cooking to playing with the children and helping them with their english to
creating a structure that can act as a barricade for the eroding coast on the
edge of the orphanage.
There
are also a few more projects we will start next week along with having worship
with the children regularly.

One of the neatest things about the orphanage is that most of the
children here are actually teenagers. There are very few younger children at
all. It’s hard to imagine growing up in an orphanage, much less becoming an
adult in one. It is amazing to see how joyful they are too and how they are
like one big family. I feel like this month may even change on how I think
about adopting. Once again, God has truly blessed my life in ways that I could
never imagine. Even the smallest things are the biggest blessings to  me…He really knows how to surprise His
children.

Continue to pray for me as I start this new month of ministry and
feel free to contact me for any reason (I only have internet access once a week
though). I love and miss all of you!
