I can’t believe it’s already here, but I leave for training camp today in Gainesville, GA for 8 days. I don’t know how to describe how I feel. I am excited, but also nervous. Like that feeling you get before you get on a roller coaster. All the anticipation, and then you finally get on the ride and there is no turning back, and then you realized it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be at the end (or so I hope).
I am so excited to be able to participate in this mission trip and feel very blessed. I know God is going to stretch me like crazy this week and in the weeks to come before this trip and my trust needs to rely fully in Him. In Matthew 14:22-34, Jesus walks on water in a storm to get back to His disciples. At first they think Jesus is a ghost, but after realizing it’s really Him, Peter asks Jesus if he can walk on water too and Jesus says to come. As soon as Peter walks out of the boat, he was able to walk on water. What a great feeling! To trust Christ and know that we can truly do all things that Christ says we can do. However, we are all human, and Peter was too. As soon as he saw how violent the wind was, he became frightened and began to sink. When he called out to Christ, He came and saved Peter and then asked him “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
A lot of what I will be experiencing over this week and the next few months will really make me understand more fully what it means to trust and have faith in Christ. I don’t want to be like Peter in this instance and doubt at the very first sign of opposition or of something different in my path. I want to be able to fully step out and have the confidence to stay strong in Christ. I definitely need some prayers during this next week and the weeks to come. I appreciate everyones continued support and love.
