I suppose it’s time for an update.  My original notion was to get this posted on
Friday, but unfortunately due to the immediate lack of internet I haven’t been
able to post anything too recently.
Things have certainly been moving around here and I wanted to fill all
of you faithful readers about the recent happenings of my life.

I Moved to Michigan

Yeah, it’s not a lie – I really moved to the coldest place
in the United States.  Okay, I don’t
really know that it’s the coldest place in the US of A, but I do know that it’s
a lot colder than Kansas is.  While
everyone back in my home State is enjoying walking around in flip-flops and
t-shirts, I’m in Michigan shiverin’ me timbers!
I’m still finding solace from the freezing air in the confides of my
coat and shoes with extra layers of socks.
Has my blood thickened yet?  I’m
not sure it really has.  I’m praying that
it happens soon.

I’m Living in a Rad
House

We moved into a house in Port Huron, there are a good number
of us here who are doing work directly with the World Race.  It’s an incredibly beautiful house built in
the 1920’s.  Over the course of the last
few years it was turned into three apartments on the three floors, but it’s all
been opened back up and we’re all living like one giant family.  Don’t worry moms – guys and girls are on
separate floors.  The intention is to use
the top two floors for ‘living’ and the basement apartment for our
offices.  We currently need furnishings,
so if you’re interested in donating to our cause or you live in the Port Huron
area and want to donate something, let me know!
Here are some pictures of our ‘crib’…

The front of the house…

The front room.  Yeah, there’s not much furniture yet and we just finished a meeting.

Our lovely ‘community’ kitchen, although there’s one on every floor.  This is taken from the breakfast nook.

My bedroom.  No worries – getting my bedding this week AND hopefully some furniture will be donated.

The basement, which has many rooms and will become the office space.

I Start Work on
Monday

It’s been a bit difficult to start working and to continue
blogging vigorously when, well, we’ve been the process of moving and everything
seems to be strung all over the place.
For about two weeks I felt like I was back on the World Race because I
was living out of a suitcase, er… duffle bag.
Finally though, I have closet space so I’ve thrown everything into
it.  This morning we actually had our
first staff meeting and went over some ground rules.  It’s pretty sweet to be a part of something
so monumental (in my opinion – and if you don’t believe me, check out other
Racers’ blogs!).  It’s like Jake said to
me a few days ago, “the nations are going to be changed from this house.”  It’s such a simple thought that blew me away.

Cross Current Church

We started going to this rock awesome church here in “Po Ho”
that Michael and Kathy pastored before turning it over to take over the World
Race
program.  It’s an amazing body of
believers and they’ve welcomed us warmly… very warmly… into their family.  Kim and I have already led worship this past
weekend and they’ve gotten all of us plugged in immediately to serve in a local
body.  It’s amazing – God’s truly blessed
us through them.  It sounds like later
this fall their going to launch CC World and partner with the World Race.  God’s moving richly through that congregation.

Support Raising

I’ve written some blogs in the last few weeks talking about
the work I’m doing this year.  This is an
unpaid job and it’s directly involved with mission work… and seeing as I’m
continuing to do mission work… I must raise my own support.  I’m working on staff with the World Race
mobilizing a generation, raising up, training, and equipping missionaries to go
out into the field.  I’m also scheduled
to go do some international travel several times this year, but can only do so
once there is money in my support account.
I’m trying to raise $20,000.
Currently I have $629 in my support account, so I have roughly $19,000
more to raise!  My goal is to have at
least $5,000 in my account at the end of February.  Please pray about supporting me!  You can read more here and here.

That’s the general update.
I hope to put one of these out bi-weekly to keep you updated on the
happenings of everyday life here in the World Race community house.  Places like this are springing up all over
the place.  I’m interested to see how
daily living and international ministry intersects here under this one roof.  Stay tuned for some incredible stories…
