I must apologize for the lull in posting the last few days…
I’ve been vagabonding it across the Midwest with my dear friend, Kim. We’ve been moving to Michigan to begin this
next chapter of life with a bunch of other crazy people. We’re going to mobilize missionaries for the
World Race in Port Huron, Michigan while being missionaries ourselves to the
wonderful country of the USA.
We spent several days outside Cincinnati with our lovely
sister, Andi (and her rock-awesome parents); Rachel even came and visted us!
For me this past week has been an incredible time of rest and
relaxation. One of my good friends,
Michael Beardslee, gave me a pretty solid word from the Lord. God woke him up one morning before I left
Wichita and said, “Tell Matt to not be afraid to rest.” When he shared that word with me I knew immediately
what the Lord was talking about. I
needed to break from my email, from the blogging, and other computer-oriented
things.
I just needed time to breathe and rest my mind.
Since then I’ve seen a somewhat cold Kansas morning progress
into a very snowy and frigid Michigan one.
As I’m typing this, I’m staring out the window at a wooded area
blanketed in snow. Somewhere in there
are nestled deer, foxes, and other creatures seeking solace from the cold. And I know that just beyond that is Canada,
somewhere, because this is the farthest north I’ve lived in my life… and I
drove under the “bridge to Canada” earlier this afternoon.
I’m eager to see what God has in store for this place, not
just this place but also me. I’m on this
journey chasing the very thing I chased all around the globe last year. To think that one year ago today I was in
Chincha, Peru – it boggles my mind. Now
I’m in yet another foreign place, yet more familiar, trying to figure out how
God’s going to move.
But without the risk, there would be no adventure, eh?

Also, I’m looking for
supporters to support me financially and through prayer for my mission this
next year. Click here to read about it
and please prayerfully consider supporting me.
