Do you ever feel like God is chasing you? That no matter what you do or where you
go, there’s always this one thing
that He’s trying to get across to you.
It’s impossible to escape.
This has been happening to me a lot lately. And, yes, I’ve been trying to run from it because sometimes
I’m afraid to listen to what God has to say.
I just forget that He’s present EVERYWHERE. Even in the shower – yikes.
So what has the Lord been chasing me down with lately? It’s this concept that I’ve repeatedly
turned to in scripture (and not out of choice I might add…):
“Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen;
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
… when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own
flesh and blood?”
– -Isaiah 58.6-7
The fact that God’s even mentioning any degree of fasting to
me is a bit frightening. I don’t
know if y’all know this about me, but I’m ridiculously skinning. I think I have zero body fat. The mere idea of fasting from food actually scares me. Terrifies me.
Thankfully, I don’t think that’s the kind of fasting the
Lord’s asking of me.
I’m going to go out on a limb here: what do you feel like
the Lord’s impressing on you right now to tell me? What insight can you give me from this passage. For just two minutes, try this:
1.
Ask the Lord to silence distractions and to
speak to you clearly
2.
Ask Him what He wants you to tell me about this
passage
3.
DO NOT pay attention to what other people have
said
4.
Leave a comment – I promise I’ll write you back
I’d really appreciate this. I think this is a great way for the body to help the
body. We need to begin helping
each other through our walks with the Lord, maybe even figuring things
out. Faith isn’t meant to be lived
independently, but interdependently.
What can I help you with?
