:: discovering a voice :: new beginnings ::

Today marks a day of new beginnings on this blog.  It doesn’t look that much different, but the way that I look at it sure does.  I’ll get to that in a minute though.  Things aren’t that much different.  I’ve changed my profile picture, the title of my blog, removed some of the features on the left-hand side of the page, and added new ones.  The unanimous vote is that all of you enjoy knowing what goes on in my life day-to-day.  You love the stories and you love seeing it.  Because of that, I’ve added a status-feed (you know, the kind of things on Twitter and Facebook) along with photos from Flickr, which I’ll try to update as often as I can.

These are just minor changes.  Here’s what’s going to happen in terms of focus and content:

1. Blogging as Ministry
I’m starting to recognize the importance of my blog as a ministry.  Surprisingly, it hasn’t taken long to get there.  I’ve gotten countless emails over the last few years that have absolutely wrecked me.  I’m not an expert in ministry or missions by any means, but I’ve dedicated myself to be a vessel of God’s love.  And because of that, the Lord has led many people my way.  I’ve had people pour their heart out to me over email and I’ve even been able to lead people to the Lord and into deliverance via email (and an occasional phone call).  If you’d like, you can view my contact page and learn more about how to connect with me.  I love praying for people, so know that I’m willing to stand in the gap for you!

2. Adapting to the Seasons
I’ve decided to be a little more open with my growth on this blog and therefore have changed the title.  Where at one time I was a vagabond-of-a-guy roaming here and there trying to find myself, I’m confident that I finally have.  I felt like the title of my blog was no longer appropriate and therefore changed it to adapt to this season that I’m finding myself in: discovering a voice.  I’m learning to grow into my own and trying to find my voice.  What does that mean?  My point exactly.

3. Human Trafficking
If you haven’t gathered this from my posts in recent months, I have a heart for anti-trafficking initiatives, campaigns, and news.  I’m a firm believer that one of the biggest weapons in the fight against human trafficking comes in tearing down the walls of ignorance.  I will do everything to bring light to this issue and I feel like the Lord has given me this blogging platform for a purpose.  In the past year, I’ve had several people find my blog in searching from information on human trafficking… and as a result, I’ve been able to minister to them.  Isn’t that awesome?  Of course it is.  And I want to share this passion with all of you.  So please help support me in this fight.  I’m going to be ramping up my involvement in anti-trafficking over the course of this next year, so stay tuned for more info.

4. Discovering My “Core”
Obviously, a lot of you wonder what I do on a day-to-day basis.  I work… but my work is ministry.  It’s hard to imagine that working for a innovative marketing and mobilization team is ministry, but trust me… it is.  This is about more than getting people to go on mission trips with Adventures In Missions or the World Race.  This is about seeing a generation come alive and see the nations transformed with the tangible and expressible love of God.  I get people involved, and therefore, play a role in changing the nations.  There’s more to is, but that’s a gist.

Basically, I’m trying to discover my “core,” the group of people that support me.  And I don’t just mean financial supporters (because I support-raise my own income), but I’m also looking for ministry partners and prayer partners.  These are people who do more than support me monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or yearly.  These are people who help walk this thing out with me.  If you’re interested in being one of these people in 2010, please contact me.  I have a more refined process of what this looks like this coming year than I did this year.  I’m growing in this thing and learning what it means to have a support-base, a “core”.  So please work with me here.

In the top-left menu is a list of links.  One of those links is to my support account.  I listed my support goal for 2010 along with how far I have to go.  As you can see, I have yet to raise any support for 2010.  Please consider supporting me financially and partnering with me in this ministry.

5. Stories
And at the end of the day, I just want to share stories.  I want to share my stories, I want to share stories from the missionaries that I help get onto the mission field, I want to share stories about how the nations are being transformed through God’s love, and I want to even share your stories!  This means that I’m going to open up my blog each week to people who are willing to write and share their own stories.  You can email them to me, I’ll approve them, and post them.  It’s that easy… and another way that you can partner with me.

Again, this is just a glimpse into the new beginning of what I’m doing.  God’s moved in my life this last year in a mighty and ferocious way; I want to keep petitioning Him to continue His movement in my life, through my life, and into yours and the unexpected people who stumble across this.

Thank you for joining me in ministry.  And if you haven’t subscribed for updates for my blog, you can do so by clicking here.  You’ll get an email notifying you every time I post a blog with a link to read it.  You can expect one of these most every day.  And if you know somebody who might like reading my blog, send them the link!  I’d love to connect with them.

Blessings – and I can’t wait to see what God has up His sleeve…

* by the way, that’s not a picture of me.  it’s of a random guy named spencer knutson that i found on Google images.
