So we went to the store and bought a bag of doughnuts and we
declared it national go to the store and buy a bag of doughnuts day. We marched
through the streets of Chincha and handed doughnuts to every moto driver and in
return they each gave us a free rise in a circle around the plaza.
On these
many go-arounds in the plaza we came to love the motos, and offered to buy one
from a driver. He sold it to us for 62 Soles, which, if you didn’t know, comes
out to about 14 dollars. We took our moto, our bag of doughnuts, and a random
old man that we snagged from a street corner and headed for the coast.
Once at
the beach we counted to six, drove straight for the ocean, abandoned the moto,
and dove into the sand. Old man and all. The doughnuts, they made it too. And
we all sat on the beach and watched the moto sink into the Pacific while
singing, “Pianoman.”
Buenos noches.
