It’s cloudy and rainy today in my little corner of the world. I welcome it though because it helps me reflect and I think that I need to do a little bit of that today. I have my coffee in hand as I sit here and write, bundled up in a sweater because apparently fall in Michigan brings with it frigid temperatures. It’s not what I’m used to. Hard to think that I’ve skipped this favorite season of mine last year. A year ago today I was in Vietnam. Oh how life changes.
Here’s a brief list of highlights from the week. Share with me one blessing of yours this week. These things tend to encourage me to hear how God’s moving in other peoples’ lives.
New Hampshire. I flew there for a few days at the beginning of the week for a retreat with our marketing and mobilization team. The goal was to get ourselves focused and set some goals for next year. It was actually a really good time. We’re a decentralized team, so we don’t work in the same place. In fact, we’re all scattered across the mid-west and east coast. Anytime we get to spend together is a blessing. We came up with a really focused mission statement and core values to stand beside. It’s fun being a part of something new within missions like this. It does make me wonder what God has around the corner for me though.
Fall. Simply put: this is my favorite time of year. It’s just strange having fall here in Michigan. It’s cold. Rainy. It’s not what I expected fall to look like. Granted, in Kansas it’s a little warmer and more simply ‘fall’. I guess I have a preconceived idea of what fall’s even supposed to look like. Oh well.
Thanksgiving. One of my roommates is leaving to squad-lead a World Race trip beginning next week. Last night was her last evening with us. Since she’s missing Thanksgiving, we decided to have a Thanksgiving feast. It was incredibly delicious. She left this morning. Keep Andi in your prayers as she leads.
Guatemala. I leave for Guatemala on Monday! I’m really excited. I was blessed enough in July (thanks to your support) to go down there and help debrief some of the World Race teams that we had down there. Now I get to go help launch a squad. It’s the first time I’ve ever been to a launch (other than my own). I absolutely LOVE Guatemala, so it’s a huge blessing to get to go back there.
Economy. This isn’t a highlight. In fact, this is a darker part of the post. Support-raising in this economy is ridiculously difficult. All of us are feeling the effects of it. If you find a hint of an inkling to give towards this ministry, please do. Even $5 goes a long way. That buys like 10 boxes of macaroni and cheese… a staple food item for missionaries like us. If you feel like giving,
you can do so here. And if you want more people to support, look no further in than this list:
