Another week has come and gone and it’s time again for my weekly update  Here it goes:

Going to Spain.  Our dear friend and sister, Sarah, just took off this morning for the G42 Leadership Academy in Mijas, Spain.   For those of you that don’t know, Sarah was on my small team this past year on the World Race and she’s been with us up here in Michigan… until we parted ways this morning.  It sounds like we’ll see her later in the year though.  But she’s definitely going to be missed.  If you want to support her and help pay for her school, you can do so here (under program choose “student support”).

I’m rebelling.  One of the joys of living up here in Michigan is the frigid weather.  Sometimes I think that if God was bipolar, he would exercise his bipolarism through the weather changes up here in Port Huron.  One day it was freezing with snow on the ground, the next it was like 50 degrees and sunshine.  So this morning I woke up confused, left the house while it was raining and not freezing, but cool, and returned to this:

What’s wrong with this picture?  That’s right.  I’m confused.  I don’t know how to dress appropriately anymore for Michigan weather.  My brain is programmed to Kansas weather patterns, not Michigan ones.  Therefore, I will remain stuck in my habits.

I’m getting ripped.  I mentioned last week that I finally caved and bought a gym membership and since then, Jake and I have been practically every day.  Unfortunately, I’ve only gained five pounds and I think it’s more due in part to Jake and I binge eating after we workout because we feel like we ‘earned it’.  To top it off, I went with Kim and Caroline yesterday.  I ran 2.5 miles and thought I was cool.  Caroline said, “Yeah… um… I ran like four or something.”  Needless to say, not only do I feel like a loser runner, but I’ve been outran by a girl.  I hate treadmills – that’s my excuse.

24 & American Idol.  It’s unfortunate that this has become a highlight of my week: watching t.v.  I never wanted to become that guy, but these are two shows that I’m really into.  I aspire to be like Jack Bauer but am inspired by those horrendous singers on American Idol.  The fact that someone would stand in front of an audience numbering in the tens of millions and sing karaoke-styled songs blows me away.  And then they hand recording contracts out to some of these guys?  I’d rather watch Keifer Sutherland blow something up or defend America from multiple terrorist attacks.

Driving a bus.  So this week the official process has begun for me to get my CDL license so I can drive school buses at our World Race training camps.  Kim’s joining me in this little venture of ours.  I have a feeling it could make for fun times.  We have to get our Michigan State DL’s and then go through all of this test-taking and practice-driving.  But we’re going to reward ourselves with homemade t-shirts about how awesome we are.  *yes I’m awesome*

That concludes this week’s “weekly update”.  Until tomorrow or something…. Shalom, baby.
