If I had one word to sum up this past month it would be unimaginable. This past month I have had the privilege of living high in the mountains of a small country called Lesotho. The beauty of this place blows my mind. Even with them being in a severe drought the mountains and river are breathtaking. The reason the word unimaginable would best describe this month is due to the amazing things I have been blessed to take part in while I have been here.

Never in a million years would I have ever thought I would be given the opportunity to preach the Gospel in a small prison in the mountains in Africa. As I was walking around the prison yard preaching, I was in awe of the beauty of everything surrounding me. The fact that God has allowed me to come all the way to Africa to a prison, with about 74 inmates, to tell them how much He loves them is so amazing. We got to make 2 trips to this prison and I am extremely grateful for both of them and really learned a lot from both of them.

Also, never in a million years would I ever imagine myself building an orphanage in a small mountains African country. This has been a dream of mine and something I really hoped I would get the opportunity to do when I signed up for the World Race. My expectations were blown out of the water. I can’t express how much I have truly loved laying the groundwork on this orphanage and how much I loved working all day and seeing the process. I also got to learn a ton about building and construction which is awesome because I am praying that I can continue to do work like this for a long time to come. I also got to learn how to weld metal. For three days we welded together desks and painted for the local school. It was awesome learning this new skill and getting to created desks that will help give this children a better education.

Never in a million years would I ever imagine myself hiking 18 km through the mountains to preach on Sunday in a hut with about 30 people crammed in there. These were great adventures and the African style of worship is soo cool. They go absolutely crazy and dance and jump and just have a great time. I will always remember how incredible all three of the different churches we went to.

And finally, never in a million years would I ever imagine myself serving food, preaching, and praying for people, in an aids clinic. This has been incredible and I have had the privilege of meeting and praying for some people who redefine what having true HOPE in God looks like. At times, many of the people I was praying for, trying to encourage and remind them of the hope in the name of Christ, actually encouraged me and showed me a ton about having faith in God.

being high in the mountains, away from wifi and many distractions I have had a lot of time to read, and one thing that popped up in two different books I am reading is a sentence that could not being more relevant to my life right now. That sentence is, “God doesn’t need your abilities, He wants your availability.” This line spoke right to me. Welding, Construction, painting, and even preaching are not one of my strong suits  and my ability in all of them is very elementary at best. However, I have been making myself available to God and he has been providing everything I could ever need. This is something I pray I can grow in, is making myself completely available to God. Thus far in my life everytime I have, Life has been one heck of an adventure.
