I am bigger than a good day
And more terrible than a bad day.
When I set my favor upon you
No harm can reach you,
But when my righteous anger burns
The stars themselves tremble.
I make the rains fall on good and evil alike;
Friends and enemies receive blessings both.
I do not make mistakes
I do not second guess
I
Do
Not
Fear.
And yet you dare blame ME
For your poor, faithless, pitifully
Self-concerned experiences with my Kingdom.
You place blame and fault on The Heavenly Creator,
YOUR creator!
And “who’s ever heard of a singer criticized by his song?”
A painter his painting?
A poet his poem?
A God his creation?
You would do well, o man, to pray
That the rocks do not begin crying out to me,
As your brother’s blood already does
Day and night!
How long must I see my commands disobeyed
And my freely-given love thrown away?
Does the life of your fellow man mean nothing?
Leave the guns and wars and violence to rust and fail and wither
And then “tell me who Jesus would kill”!
Why murder those whom a far lesser empire than mine
Tells you to?
Do not mistake me as the God of any nation
Or One who favors a particular state;
My own Son came to reject the power those systems hold!
You claim to follow Him
Yet I see Mammon’s name carved into your stony hearts
And Caesar’s flag flying in your false cathedrals.
Where are my prophets?
Where are my priests?
Pharisees and soldiers outnumber them all!
Your selfless love has become a warmongering crusade
Because you have tried to turn your faith into a fact!
All I can hear is clanging symbols
As they drown out your Savior’s love!
I need neither apologies nor apologetics;
Or do you really believe that I need help defending myself?!
The Truth is mine, do not presume to know it!
If you would but love your neighbor
And forgive as I have forgiven,
This world would see authentic revival.
Truly truly, even resurrection!
