One thing I find very difficult about the body of Christ is that everyone is so different!  But then again, what I love about the body of Christ is that everyone IS so different!!

œFor as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.  Rom 12:4

What a joy it has been to see the Spirit of God at work here in the Philippines!  From orphans to house parents, to university students, to œthe gangsters gang ministry, to pastors, to members of the community, to missionaries, to prisoners, I have seen the hand of God at work in them all.  The same Spirit that is working back home in America is here!  And to think, this was going on before I got here, and will continue far beyond when I leave!

But what has struck me is the sheer difference between all these streams of blessing.  Each unique, each with its own set of strengths and challenges, and the same Spirit of grace moving through them all.

And it is the same with every one of us!  We each have unique gifts that God has given to us for the benefit of the body.  Not one of us is lacking!   We are all incredibly valuable in His sight, for we are œHis workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works that He has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.  Eph 2:10

So, here™s a picture of what I™m talking about.  One of our priorities this month was to build an international regulation soccer field.  Every Saturday between three and five hundred children, most all from poor home situations, come to Mt. Moriah to participate in games and activities, to sing songs to Jesus, to find reasons to smile and laugh, to receive unconditional love, and of course, to eat a good meal!

Problem is, all they have is a rocky, dirt field to run around on.  Let™s get these kids some grass!!

A daunting task to say the least.  The field had to be cleaned and graded, and then we had to manually lay sod.  This means digging grass out of a nearby field, transporting it, and replanting it in the field.  Oh for grass!!  The body of Christ in ACTION!!

sod diggers (not pictured, their reward is in heaven)

              transporters

                        cutters

                       diggers

                           grass carriers

                             fertilizers

worm eaters (not sure their purpose)

            some to push wheel barrows

                        some to ride them

                  grass layers

                         planters

14,000 holes and pieces of grass planted, and with everyone offering up their unique service, we ended up with our soccer field!!  Then to let God send the rain and the grass to multiply itself…
