“Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2

Scripture declares that we are chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world (Eph 1). And so we are! Praise God! But how beautiful are the feet that bring good news!

As we desire to grow and mature in Christ, may we also pause and remember that we would not be where we are if it were not for the countless men and women who have gone before us. Let us be thankful! We are who we are because of others!

Hebrews 12:1 says that we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, so when is the last time, if ever, have we thanked them?

Thank you Abraham for believing! Thank you Isaac for blessing! Thank you Jacob for wrestling! Thank you Moses for leading! Thank you Israelites for crossing! Thank you Joseph for trusting! Thank you Daniel for praying! Thank you Shadrach Meshack and Abendego for standing! Thank you Isaiah for prophesying! Thank you Jeremiah for weeping! Thank you David for singing! Thank you Esther for fasting! Thank you Nehemiah for building! Thank you John for baptizing! Thank you Mary for birthing! Thank you Anna for waiting! Thank you Jesus for living, dying, and rising! Thank you disciples for following! Thank you Mary for anointing! Thank you widow for giving! Thank you John for writing! Thank you Paul for preaching! Thank you Barnabas for encouraging! Thank you Stephen for shining! Thank you martyrs for bleeding! Thank you missionaries for going! Thank you Luther for nailing! Thank you scholars for translating!

Thank you dads for leading! Thank you moms for loving! Thank you church volunteers for teaching! Thank you ministers for obeying!

And then to apply this to our lives.  What kind of foundation are we laying for future generations to walk upon? What rocks are we helping others reach?

On a literal note, I’ve been helping the people of Mt. Moriah camp and orphanage reach higher places by building them stairs. Here are four sets of stairs we have worked on along with the sweetest women in the world we got to bless.
