Called to Worship

I don’t know if you got to see the sun rise this morning, but if you did, I hope it took your breath away. I was refreshed this morning when I woke up at 5:35 am to see the pink and purple watercolors stretching up from the horizon. The waters were calm and soothing to the soul. A stillness and peace began to fill up within.

I love the early morning. There is a peace that comes with the morning when you realize that you are in the company of God and all that He has created. The Sun rise reminds me that God has remained faithful through the night, and brought me to a new day, full of wonder and new adventure. In scripture we are reminded that  “His mercies are made new every morning.” It is so comforting to know that God loves us so much that he would see us through each day, and in His grace, grant us the opportunity to wake again tomorrow, and start all over again.

When I walked outside, the warmth of the summer heat welcomed me as I walked toward the pier to affectionately greet the morning and to take some pictures. Very soon, the sun began to crown over the trees.

It is amazing how quickly dark turns to light! As sunlight quickly flooded the sky, my heart was lifted with the memory that Jesus calls us to be “the light of the world.” Sunlight pours across the sky as soon as the sun breaches the horizon. There is no way for any darkness to hide from it, because it fills up the sky. Just as the sunlight illuminates the darkness, we are also called to trust God and find so much joy in our relationship with him that we become lights, illuminating all the dark places of this world.

We, as children of God, must seek to understand that His love for us is a passionate, jealous and demanding love. But it must be, because he must have all of our hearts. Then he can begin molding us into his image and using us for His kingdom’s purposes.

The beauty of God’s creation points to His majesty and splendor. How incredibly awesome is that! He is the only one worthy of our worship, and we were created to know God and worship Him forever! But not everyone has heard the good news of God’s deep love for us. For this reason, missions exists; because worship of God does not. Let us worship together and bring others to that JOY that is awaiting them.
