Teacher Mateo
Last month in Thailand I asked myself and the team a question.
“What do you want to get out of the last couple of months on the Race? In other words, in what ways do you want to grow and see God work?”
I went on to answer that question for myself…
“I want to be pulled even more our of my comfort zone, taking that next step in boldness, and trying new things.”
The Lord wasted no time on taking me up on the challenge. This month my name is Teacher Mateo. We are here at HisChild International in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I have the privilege of teaching three kindergarten classes in the morning and two more advanced classes in the afternoon. A couple of months ago I would not have counted this as a privilege. I would have found my way out of doing it.
But you see, it is really up to us how we end the Race. Really, that goes for the whole year. It’s what you make it. We can choose to call it quits and cruise on through to the end. Or we can make the most of it and continue being stretched. Being stretched isn’t the easiest, especially when you are tired, exhausted, and seeing home right over the horizon. However, I believe the way we finish these last two months will determine the way we enter a new season beyond the race. Ask any Alumni Racer, I’m sure they would agree.
So for me, I’m choosing more. More growth, more community, more vulnerability, more adventures, more opportunities… simply more Jesus and the call he has for me HERE. The next season will be here on November 26. Until then…
So how do I like this teaching thing? I love it! Seems weird to even say that. The Lord definitely surprised me with this one. This year the Lord has placed me right in the middle of things that use to intimidate me the most: Vulnerability, leadership, teaching, etc… These kids are great and it’s a joy to be pouring into their lives in this way while also sharing Jesus with them.
So yeah, short blog but HUGE lesson. It’s not a lesson just for me but also YOU! I hope this challenges you. Take a moment and write down the things that most intimidate you and/or things that you simply don’t consider yourself qualified to do. Then DO it! The Lord will walk you through it and possibly even surprise you. He just needs you to take that first initial step.
1. 2. 3. GO!!!
