Welcome to the World Race.

Those were the first words that Bill Swan spoke tonight to kick off our session. We had some wonderful worship then we received a very encouraging word from Bill. Things are very real now that we are a mere 3 days from heading to our first country. He gave us 4 practical points that we should use during our race to be successful and i also think that they are just great life lessons as well.

1. Have a desire to grow and change

I think that this is important because if we are not open and willing to grow and change then we could go the whole year or our whole lives for that matter and never be any different. I think that it would be a huge waste to not want to be different when we return in 11 months.

2. Presence of the Lord

Bill referenced the story of Moses and when God told him to go into the promised land but He wouldn’t be coming with him and Moses said well if you aren’t with me then I’m not going. We need desperately to have the presence of the Lord with us each step of the way in order to be effective.

3. Positive attitude

So this one is big. Its no secret that unless we have a positive attitude in all situations then we will have little to no effect on anyone that we come in contact with. As Bill said, our attitude is a huge part of our ability to witness to those around us.

4. Healthy Community

In order to have a positive impact during our race, we will have to have a healthy community amongst our teams and our squad. We will be tested in ways that we have never be tested before by being in constant community with each other. There will be no alone time. We will be forced to deal with issues right away or take a chance on having our team destroyed. It will be crucial for us to do our best to get along with each other.

Also i am very excited to announce that we will be in Ponce, Puerto Rico for our first month doing a variety of different ministries and i couldn’t be any more pumped! A big thanks to everyone who has supported me thus far and for those of you that will continue to support me and my squad for the next 11 months. Words can’t describe how blessed i am. God Bless and stay tuned for my next blog that will be coming from beautiful PUERTO RICO!!
