I am writing this blog in hopes that you all can see my experiences i have had over the last 8 months and through them you can understand the importance of attending church weekly.
When i signed up for the Race, i was well aware that “Church” would look much different than it does at home. The thing that i was not ready for was just how little i would actually BE in church. I have to admit that in the past 8 months i have been to church maybe 12-15 times which is probably hard to believe seeing as we are on a mission trip but thats not the reality. I also haven’t been to church at all in the last 2 months and it has been somewhat difficult for me.
You see the great thing is that we are the church and its not necessary that we are in a building every week but the truth is, i really miss my home church. I went through a point in my life when i moved away for college that going to church honestly wasn’t a big priority for me. As i look back on that time i realize how empty i felt during that stretch. I have also felt that same emptiness this year with the lack of church. When i started attending my current church a few years ago, i quickly saw how important it was that i was there every time the door was open. We desperately need that interaction with fellow believers on a weekly basis.
I have been blessed with some pretty incredible people around me this year that have filled the void of being away from my church family. I also know that as soon as i get home, it will be so important to get right back involved at church. I imagine there are many of you out there who don’t have a church home and are missing out on the beauty that comes with it. I encourage you to find somewhere and get plugged in because i have seen first hand just how damaging it can be without weekly church.
I just want to take this time to thank all my supporters once again for everything that you have done for me. I am blown away by all the support i have received. We are about to begin month 9 which is so crazy! I ask that you continue to pray for me and my squad that we would finish strong these last 3 months. I also ask for prayer as we head into Honduras which many consider one of the most dangerous countries in the world. The greatest thing about that is the people will be looking for someone to help them and we have just the answer: JESUS.
