This month has been MANistry and it has been incredible. Let me explain what that term means. One month during the Race, all the guys are together for ministry and the women are off somewhere doing their own thing. I had heard many different things about what this month would look like but i really had no idea exactly how it would go. It has most definitely been way more than i ever would have imagined.
We are in Nicaragua right on the beach in a community called Popoyo. It is home to some incredible surf waves so as you would imagine, there are tons of surfers here including our host Michael. Him and his family have been coming here for about 5 years and God began to work on their heart to begin a ministry in this area. They answered the call and in the past 5 years have built several homes in a community called Astillero just down the road. That community is very poor but their people are so very rich with love and a strong family bond. We have had the privilege to go and pray for families there and also we played a baseball game against the locals and we were beaten very bad by the way! We also did a program one night filled with skits, dramas, and the Jesus film.
Most of our days have been spent working at the property that Michael and his family purchased with dreams of having teams come down here more often. We are currently help build a new fence around the 5 acres and burn brush that has been cleared off the land. We typically work a few hours in the morning and spend our afternoons at the beach. (thats the life right?)
It has been such a fruitful month with the amount of time we have to spend with the Lord and each other. I have enjoyed it very thoroughly and look forward to these next couple of weeks here to see what else God has planned for us. I ask that you pray for Michael’s family and their vision that they have for this place and also pray for all of the communities that they are ministering to.
