So after a whirlwind week at Debrief where we saw incredible nights of worship on the rooftop of a Hostel in downtown Lima, Peru, team changes, leadership changes, and tears shed we were headed to Ecuador. I was excited to move forward in this new chapter of a new team and also a new position as i stepped into the role of Treasurer for our team. Yes i am responsible for all of the finances for our team(yikes). What a blessing it is to serve my team in that capacity.
When we found out our ministry for this month, i was immediately ecstatic to hear that we were at an orphanage and our contacts were from Georgia and they spoke ENGLISH! In Peru we had only spanish speaking contacts and as sensational as they were, my brain was on overload after speaking and trying to comprehend spanish for a whole month. We arrived in Manta, Ecuador after about 35 hrs of travel on a bus and were warmly greeted by our contact Will and Tio Wilton from the orphanage.
We quickly found out that the orphanage had experienced some fallout from previous administration and Will and his wife Amanda were coming in and devoting 2 years to attempt to get it back up to working order. There was a lot of work to be done so we got right to work helping this family move forward in their dream and vision for the orphanage. They were the nicest people and were such an inspiration to all of us. Though there is still along ways to go in getting this orphanage back on its feet, i believe that the Lord will honor their faith and reward them with the vision that they have in their hearts.
Picture this- a wonderful couple from Georgia with a beautiful 3 year old boy and so much going for them up and sold everything they owned and answered the call from God and moved to a country that they had never been to before and had no affiliation with prior. Talk about an incredible faith. How many of you think that you could do the same? I have to be honest and say that I’m not sure i could do it. I ask that you all join me in prayer that God would strengthen our faith so that we may be able to answer whatever the Lord may have for us just as Will and Amanda did.
