You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Genesis 50:20

I have wanted a tattoo for a long time. When I arrived in Kathmandu and heard about how great the tattoo artists were here, I knew this was where I wanted to get my tattoo.

As many of you know, I was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship for two years. In my recovery, I learned that I was not alone. I learned that so many victims (especially men) are afraid to come forward and leave their abusive relationships because they are afraid of what others will think…that they were somehow to blame for the abuse inflicted on them. And if I am being honest, I used to feel that way as well. I constantly worried about how sharing my story would affect “my image;” but the truth is, it really doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter because it is not only my story…it’s also the story of thousands of others. Through prayer and reflection, I came to realize that God gave me my story to share with others. This is actually how I came to adopt the phrase “Share Your Story” as the motto for my life. I felt that God was calling me to not only share my own story, but the story of so many others as well.

When thinking of what I wanted for a tattoo, I knew it had to center around my new-found motto, but I also wanted it to represent my passion for filmography, the gift I feel the Lord blessed me with. So… I believe that what I ended up getting, does just that!

The best part about my tattoo is that now, whenever I am asked about it, I have the opportunity to share my story. I have the opportunity to share my AMAZING God, and how He worked in my life and brought me out of darkness.

I am using this tattoo as a testimony. I am using this tattoo for the Kingdom and for His glory.
