If a picture can share a thousand words, this is my longest one yet! Hope you enjoy my best attempt at sharing a day in the life, as a teacher in Honduras on the World Race.

 5:50 – view 🙂

6:00 – Bakery is open! Praise!

6:20 – Bus buddy Anthony (7) will often sing in the window on the long bus trip. Or flip through his science book to look at the pictures. He’s the first to welcome me to my seat.

6:55 – Prayer and National Anthem before school starts.

7:30 – Only finding mushy “thank you” and “welcome songs” to teach 5th grade later today. Board members are visiting the school tomorrow … we ended with, Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (yes, I didn’t have a clue to spell his last name).

8:30 – First Art Class. Good Morning, 5th grade.

This morning we did, self portraits and marble art. Gave them a doodle of “Mr. Matt” for an example. My friend wanted to get in the picture too.

Marble art, woot!

Happy drawer.

9:23 – Break in the Teachers Lounge.

9:40 – Second Art Class. And kids are starting to pick up energy…

Cutting out box for marble art craft.

Totally awesome!

Almost 10:25 – Time for 3rd Grade.

Marbles continue.

Mesmerized.

Kids busy having fun. #teacherwin!

Bien, bien, bien, bien.

Kids going into Computer Lab. Note: the awesome murals at the school!

Kids being kids.

Found out Mr. Kamakawiwo’ole Somewhere Over the Rainbow was a completely different version… put on the Oz YouTube and the kids started singing operatic, nice.

Mr’s face says it all. We also realized we went over time, and only have 10 minutes for Lunch now.

Quick made it back to the room. Locked out.

Fastest “lunch” I could buy before next class. If I can even call this that.

After feeling like I was about to fall over from THAT sugar high, I found these peanuts in my fannypack.

This became the next classroom trend. Just glad for the peanuts. Not following classroom rules.

Took the kids outside. Time to get wiggles out.

My adorable student asked for me to drawer her. Oops… wrong face and I totally just made her look like a meme/ creepy doll. She didn’t seem to mind.

Jamie Rae jamming out to worship – PTL school day is over!

Praising too.

Pope Selfie.

In the Office waiting to get picked up.

Teacher van.

Learning a dance with the teachers for a weekend event.

Homemade coconut popsicle – not messing around.

Just hanging out.

Invited to board party with other American friends/ volunteers. Passing the Town Square and Cathedral.

BBQ – not normal on the race.

Party was at the Volunteer House – super awesome building!

Haven’t had appetizers in months.

Forerunners meeting up with the other Americans!

Tortilla, Beef, Avocado, Salsa … Yes.

Group picture.

Made it back home to the Mission House.

Quick feedback session with team, talking about the day. How we saw our teammates look like Jesus and how we can call each other up to look more like him.

Hope you enjoyed,

Grace and peace – Matt
