So…I’ve been trying
to post this blog for the last day and a half, but the internet just hasn’t
wanted to cooperate. I suppose I should
get used to this fact since it will probably be happening quite often from here
on out.
On Saturday our squad was reunited at the Boston
airport. We spent the night in one of
the terminals and left early on Sunday to fly to Guatemala.

After a couple plane rides, a few hours on some buses, and a
lot of going with the flow, we made it to Guatemala. It has taken me a little
while to get the motivation to write my first blog, but I wanted to let
everyone know I made it safely. To be
honest I can’t even point out on a map where we are at or tell you the name of
the city. All I currently know is that
we are close to Lake Atitlan which is apparently a pretty well know city and
attracts a decent amount of tourists. Typically, I prefer to have a schedule and know where I am at and where
I am going, but I don’t think it is going to work like this on the World Race.

So what are we doing in such a nice location you might
ask? Well, we are still in the beginning
stages of the Race and are doing some training and orientation that we need for
the rest of the year. We’ve met up with
our squad leaders, our team coaches, the director of the World Race, and some
other miscellaneous staff. We’ve had
time to get to know the people in our teams better, pray with them about the
upcoming year, and stir the vision God has the adventure that awaits in the
coming months. As far as I can tell, I
think we are going to be here for about a week before heading out into other
parts of Guatemala. The Race has begun
and I’m just starting to get a glimpse of what this journey may look like….and
I must say, I like it!
