The past few days have been pretty frustrating for me. I want to be out in the action…swinging the
axe, using the shovel, playing a game with kids, helping out with whatever
needs to be done. But instead of doing
these things I’ve been lying around trying to gather enough energy to do simple
tasks and lesson the constant ache that my body has become all too accustom to. One of the biggest battles our teams seem to
be fighting this month is against our own bodies. Most of the 16 people that live in our house
have been sick at some point in the last couple weeks…some worse than others. Four of us who have been hit pretty hard
decided to go to the doctor the other day and try to get rid of whatever is plaguing
us. Here’s the report:

Jared: Intestinal Parasite

Becky: Intestinal Bacterial Infection

Megan: Dengue Fever

Me: Typhoid Fever…again. This is the second time I’ve had Typhoid in
the past 7 or 8 months.

I was pretty surprised none of us came down with the same
thing. Anyway, I say this so you know
how to better pray for us and our situation. We’re coming down to end of our time here in Guatemala and as we start
to feel like we are having more of an impact we are hit with sickness pretty
hard.

Outside of the illness, we have been continuing our work
here and there are always people in our group who are healthy enough to keep
things going. We’ve been invited to a
lot of churches to be a part of the service and lead worship, share our
testimonies, and perform dramas. We’ve
been working with kids at the local orphanage and putting on a VBS type
program. We’ve been doing some
construction work on a church that is being built. And of course, we’ve been playing a lot of
soccer with people and building relationships at the park near our house.

That’s all I have for now. We really appreciate all your prayers and encouragement.
