I’ll be sharing my experience through my stories and pictures. If you have any questions, please send me an email by clicking the Contact Me link! Enjoy!

Who am I?

My name is Matt Peters and I am from Manitoba, Canada. I’m an extremely easy going person with a huge heart. I have a love for the outdoors and experiencing new things. With these passions of mine, I have worked as a youth pastor and a wilderness guide for the past few years. Now, That’s only the surface of who I am so please click on the who is Matt?? link to the left to read more about me.

What am I doing?

This next year I will be travelling around the world to 11 countries in 11 months on a program called The World Race. I am abandoning everything I have become comfortable with for a year. This means leaving my family, my friends, and my jobs and lifestyle back home. On this journey I’ll be travelling alongside a group of 4-6 brothers and sisters in Christ. We’ll be living simply out of our backpacks and our purpose is to give as we go. We’ll be building a community with one another so that we may radiate Christ’s love for others through our ability to serve as a family and a team. We’ll be staying in churches and often times camping out. Jesus walked among the poor, the broken, the sick……and so that’s what we’ll be doing. Why am I going?

For the past number of years I have been looking for something more in my walk with Chrsit. I have always been very close to Him but my heart was often distant. I have had the urge to “get out” into the unkown, out into the world. I’ve had this longing for a pilgrimage of sorts to find my faith and to be in a place where I could live it full heartedly. God is calling me to something greater than my comfortable life at home, so I’m following that call.

Ministry is huge on my heart. I’m always struggling with what that means; does it mean pastoring?, how about summer camp?, or what about overseas missions? I’ve come to the realization that ministry is an ongoing thing, no matter who you are, what you do. It’s about representing Jesus Christ and having that intimate relationship with him so you can share and care for others. So I’m going to share my love for Jesus with the third world and pour out my heart as I meet them where they’re at and love them. I’m not going to try to change the world…..I’m going to build a relationship with one person at a time!

I love adventure in the outdoors!! I’ve loved the outdoors all my life as I grew up fishing and hunting with my dad and camping with the family. I’ve loved it so much that the past few years I actually spent my time and energy living an “outdoorsy” lifestyle. I worked in camp ministry and I was in fact paid to be immersed in the beauty around me. Living this way forces you to be simplistic in your style of living. And so, the thought of backpacking for a year has always been front and center for a must experience before I leave this earth. The World Race will stretch me in what I think living out of a backpack is all about! I’m excitied about it as I experience what the world is all about along the way.

The final reason I am going on this adventure is to be a ministry for those back home. I’m going to experience and live among people that we all see on t.v. or hear about on the radio. I’ll be writing one story at a time so those back in North America have an understanding of what’s going on in the far corners of the world that we so often never hear about. I’m going as a voice for them!  I’ll be writing the reflections of my heart and sharing the joys and hurts I’ll go through as you get to know me and who I truly am in my identity in Christ. I pray that those who may not know Christ personally gain an understanding of Him through my thoughts, words, and pictures.

How can you get involved?

There are many ways you can get involved in my minitry. Prayer is a huge part of my travels. I’m always needing prayer for focus, health, and peace on my travels. I’m always looking for prayer warriors, so please contact me [email protected] for specific prayer requests.

I’m still in need of financial support. I’ve been extremely blessed by those giving so far, but I’m still well away from my goal of $14,000 that it takes to support my year long ministry. I’m encouraging donations of $10 per month pledges or $100 one time gifts. Of course any amount of support is greatly appreciated! You can donate by clicking Support Me!

Lastly please spread the word about my ministry and the World Race program. Share this link with non-believers, brothers and sisters in the faith and of course keep checking updates often yourselves. To spread the word to your email contacts just click Share My Story on the left. I’m not asking for donation handouts but rather a year long relationship with you through interaction through my blog and email. To get alerts sent straight into your email click Get Updates on the left.
