The Cornerstone…
– Stone at corner or opposite sides of a room UNITING two intersecting walls
– A ceremonial stone marking the origin of a building
– An indispensable and fundamental basis
– “meat and potatoes”
– A piece of rock molded in a definite shape for a special purpose
Jesus is the cornerstone… in saying that, we are the cornerstone. We are the cornerstone of the church. I look at our squad, the J-esus Squad as a moving yet unshakable structure. We are 40 cornerstones that creates this huge, ABNORMAL, unshakable, unbreakable, unignorable, worship filled, kingdom filled, octopolyrhomagon shaped Church of the Holy Spirit. A house of the Father.
What makes this better is the book I was reading that inspired this blog. Let me tell you a little about Peter.
Peter saw Jesus, and knew who He was, yet he denied and rebuked Him. Jesus told Peter to walk on water, and he did, but it took him losing faith and sinking first… What a screw up, much like myself. YET, Jesus told Peter that he was the rock that he’d build His church on. The rock, the foundation… someone who denied, rebuked and failed. Someone who found redemption, love, and acceptance.
Just like me. Just like the J-esus Squad. Let’s build this church. Let’s bring kingdom… it’s a pretty exciting venture for a bunch of screw ups.
