Yesterday looked a little different that my typical Wednesday morning. Part of it was I recently started getting up at 6am in order to go to the gym before work everyday. I realized that I wanted to start feeling better… healthier. I was tired of not operating at my full potential when I played ball or had to peel an orange. I was out of shape.

But that wasn’t the only thing that was different. After the gym I met up with my Kenya family to do our weekly gathering of prayer and scripture study. However, today we were putting what we had learned to action. ATL style. For those of you who haven’t followed my blogs before, or aren’t familiar with The World Race, ATL stands for Ask The Lord.

We met at Subway and split into pairs to pray for one another. We also prayed that God would give us pictures, words, and enable us to do His work today. We asked Him to lead and guide us where He wanted us to go and speak the words only He knew to say.

When we finished praying we got in a group and wrote down everything that God had told us. So here’s our list:
– Red shape (this one confused me, it was mine, and it was just this red flag shape)
– Green sweatshirt
– William
– Chicken
– Laundry Mat
– Chains

Interesting list huh… So we set out on Atlanta Hwy (six deep in a Buick LeSabre) trusting that God had a lined up these random words/visions as directions for something He needed done.

As we drove down the Hwy one of the girls shouts from the backseat “Williams St! Turn around!” So we turned and parked at the end of the road, got out (looking like a bunch of Mormons) and starting walking down the road.

Chickens! Interesting, we continue to walk… a child in a green sweatshirt playing in a yard surrounded by chain link fence, with a upside down red flag hanging from the mailbox…

Welp, this is the spot.

We walk through the gate to meet with a hispanic lady sitting almost in a ball reading a book. Kelli speaks with her and sees that she is reading a Bible. We talk to her about church, family, and Jesus. We prayed for her family, and as we prayed the small boy in the green sweatshirt mimicked the way I held my hand out and our new friend cried.

As we lifted our heads, she said in tears “I came out here to find God today, and I did“.

So did we.

Working out has been great. It can be exhausting at times, and I can’t fit everything into my schedule that I’d like to, but I am healthier and happier.

Living life as an ATL day to day is the same way. It’s working out our faith and beliefs. It can be tiring, and not on our schedule. But at the end of the day, you’re healthier, your faith is stronger, and I couldn’t have been happier.

Ask God for direction today… ask Him for a word, picture, or a person to talk to. Work out your faith.
