Hebrews 12 :28-29
Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is a consuming Fire!

As some of you know God recently put on my heart that I needed to start a youth group at a church here in Greer. It was kind of strange to me as I am not a member of this church nor have I attended any Sunday service besides a Salkehatchie service for a mission trip a year ago. I emailed the pastor and immediately had has full support so I got to work. As you can imagine I am still not sure on how it’ll work as I am leaving in 24 days and the first official meeting isn’t until the 14th. However I know God has complete control over it and I continue to see Him move in this place. So, I contacted youth and young adults and got them together at a local coffee shop to give and receive ideas on direction. Over the past week we have cleaned out and painted a youth room and really spent quality time together. I am blown away at what God is doing already. I have been stuck on listening to Chris Tomlins God of This City… when I walked up to the youth room a few of the girls had it playing as they began restoration in the church. Once we got it cleaned out then painted we wrote verses that were important to us on the walls. I knew exactly which one I wanted and where to put it. Hebrews 12:28-29 was immediately written above the door way. It was in every way appropriate. Because, as we picked up and cleaned up he was actively doing His own cleaning, in the church and in all of our lives. Last night one of the youth came forward about the changes that she had in her life Over the past 2 weeks God has taken her from being caught up in drugs and alcohol and empowering her to be a light among all of her friends. God has plans for her future and the future of this youth group. She is going to be a leader, and cannot wait to get the emails and calls while I am gone to see how God is using her. After I leave I will continue to sing and know that “For greater things have yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this city…” and I am so pumped. Take away point… I was confused about why God wanted me to start a youth group on such a short time period…. God doesn’t NEED me to continue to do His work here. He wanted me to experience Him and His Glory for a short period of time. I NEED God… we NEED God. I am  just really stoked that he let’s me along for the ride.
