Yesterday we arrived here for what we thought would be a two hour layover. But, due to a delay in Philadelphia we will be enjoying 3 days in Brussels!

Our first day here was nice. Jet lag didn’t hold us back too bad. We spent the morning in the airport getting our flight figured out and then got on a train into the city to figure out living arrangements. I love trains!

After a few hours of walking around and getting a feel for the city we found Van Gogh Youth Hostel just outside of the city centre. It was nice to unload some of our stuff and be able to lock it up. Before now we looked like a traveling band or street performers walking around the city carrying two guitars and a mandolin.

We unpacked and headed out of the hostel on a mission. The Belgium Waffle. It wasn’t long before we found our way the square where a tourist could choose from a number of vendors as well as any combination of toppings. Ruple and I went “healthy and got strawberries and whipped cream (which was more like ice cream) while Kelli and Logan got ice cream and caramel/chocolate syrup on theirs. Delicious.

In our time in the city centre we were able to make conversation with a few locals. We learned of some free local music festivals. Their selling points included “good weed and a great red light district.

So we will go, and we will love. Plus, anyone we met yesterday will have no problem finding us. If gym shorts and a t-shirt wasn’t enough to make you stick out in Europe, we’ll be wearing the SAME gym shorts and t-shirts.

Today is going to be a great day! This isn’t about me. This isn’t about Kenya Initiative. God just opened the door to Brussels.

Love is here. Love is now.

Come on Jesus. Come on Holy Spirit. Move!

Much love.
