Matthew – gift of God.  That’s a good name brother.  How incredibly affirming to know that God selected, wrapped and presented you on purpose.  You were chosen.

Cameron – as hard as I tried, the most common meaning for this name is “crooked nose”.  It was a name given to a group of descendants of a man with a crooked nose who passed that trait down to his posterity.  There’s a couple of thoughts there though and I think it’s an IMPERATIVE point to your name (I’ll explain it later).  First, a trait is what marks you.  It’s something you don’t have to explain because it’s obvious.  You belong (whether you like it or not).  Second, it gives you a sense of being a part of a legacy.  It may or may not have something to do with your human legacy, but maybe a spiritual legacy.

Bell – literally this means “beauty”.  The beautiful one.  Even though it’s not spelled the same, it comes from the same place as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Here’s the word I got for you.

There’s a flaw between the gift and the beauty.

Ok, hear me out.  I feel like I can speak a little more openly about this now that you’ve been through what you have out on the field.  One of the things I believe you’ve addressed and sacrificed, and one of the things I’ve stopped hearing and sensing is an expression of vanity.  I remember one particular picture I saw on Facebook of you in the Philippines when this first clicked in my spirit.  Some of this I think you get.  I think your ego was stroked by many people in your former ministries.  I think it gave you value and at the same time…didn’t.

So here…even in your name, is a flaw.  Cameron is a great name, it can mean all that I wrote up there.  However, I think there’s something very similar to Jacob’s limp wrapped up in this meaning.  You’re a gift Matthew.  You’ve got a beauty to who you are and the talents you possess.  However, there’s a reminder there, a reminder of who you are, of what it means to wrestle with God and figure out who’s in control.

Understanding the flaw is what makes you special and unique.  It speaks to your identity and it’s something you get to wear proudly.  A scar that reflects a battle for the soul is a mark of honor, and you are an honorable man.
