I heard stories about training camp, but you can't imagine hunger, you can't imagine sleep deprivation, you can't imagine pulling soaked socks off of wet feet, and realizing the bottoms of your feet resemble the skin of a peach that sun ripened, then fallen to the ground and begun to loose its beauty. Dramatic? Yes, but the first few days of camp are tough.
I should call this place, "Camp Confirmation." Because its been nothing less.
Hungry? yes. Sleepy? yes. Irritable? yes. Vulnerable? yes. All these things seem to be the in direct opposition to the place we believe that we would like to be.
A candle in itself is a ridiculous invention, set it on fire and realize its just the fuel.
Roughing it in the wilderness, under fed, sleep deprived and irritable, is a ridiculous notion…set it on fire and realize its also just the fuel.
A mentor by the name of Dr. Effler once told me, if you put a "but" in your sentence, it changes the nature of everything previously stated.
Camp is tough, but God is good!!
