I am the kind of person that likes to ask lots of questions. One question that I love to ask is……… What If?
What if is such a simple yet powerful question to ask. It can be as simple as what if I went to burger king instead of mcdonalds after work. But, it can be as deep as what If I got one more hour with grandma before she left us. To ask what if is actually two questions in one. What if I (fill in the blank) or what if I didn’t (fill in the blank).
In high school I did a speech called what if that was aimed at opening peoples eyes to those around them and the difference they could make if they showed they cared.
I sat down the other night and read through it again and was shocked at how different I saw things and how many more questions I asked myself.
What if christians were real all the time?
What if we stopped treating nonbelievers like they were inferior?
What if we prayed for miracles and not just that we have a “productive” day.
What if every Christian read the whole bible and not just pulled it out when they wanted to justify there decisions or condemn someone they don’t like.
What if the church was seen as more than just a building.
What if we brought love back into christianity.
I challenge every person who reads this to start asking yourself what if in your own faith walk and challenge others to do the same.
I did and it started to open my eyes to things I would have never seen otherwise. Don’t only ask ask yourself what if? Ask yourself what if I didn’t?
Ask yourself these questions and I promise you won’t look at things the same.
Dear God, I thank you for giving me a questioning spirit. It has helped me see things through a new set of eyes and given me a bolder faith. I pray you I never stop asking questions and thank yo for always waiting with the answer. Thank you, Mason Smith
