This last Saturday I had my fun run to raise money for my upcoming adventure on the world race. I believe I can speak for everyone when I say it was a great time, even though most of them ran almost 6 miles! When we talked about doing this run I thought it was a good idea and we could have maybe 50 people show up and raise $1000 or so.
WE CRUSHED MY GOAL!!
We had over 120 people show up and made over $4000!!! after taking out some money for the shirts people ordered I am going to be adding 3500 to my adventures in missions account!
God has truly been blessing me on the adventure so far. Everytime I feel this whole thing was a mix up and God couldn’t have possibly chosen me he proves me wrong and brings me closer to the goal for this trip.
The way we ran the race is whats called a poker run. The path was a little over 5.5 miles and we had 11 stops along the way (to signify each country I will go to). At each stop the person receives a playing card from one of AMAZING volunteers! Each card has a number value that can be up to 20 points. They can also check out some of the cool facts about the country I will go to along the way. Like, did you know it is illegal to go into public without underwear on Thailand?!?! At the end of the race you take your 5 best cards, add up your score, and the winner gets prize. We awarded a prize to the adult winner and child winner.
The following are a few of the pictures from the run.
Some people checking out the map of the race.
On you marks…… Get set…… GO!!
Some of our fantastic volunteers handing out the cards!
We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for the run!
We even had some dogs run it!
EVEN KIDS WERE RUNNING IT!! I didn’t even run it I was on a bike taking pictures.
Here is Pastor Shannon with the big 1st place finish! In this picture He’s praising Jesus that he didn’t die.
And I must say with a time like that I had no idea my pastor was such a stud!
Its not official but I believe he was the youngest participant on the race.
