As you may have noticed I chose to reference Ephesians 3 on my T-shirts because of the power this simple truth has brought to my life. Paul wrote Ephesians, while he was in prison, to the church in Ephesus about the nature of Jesus’ work. Paul wanted to write a gospel reminder to spur them on in the midst of all of their suffering and to show them the beauty in experiencing the fullness of God. It’s such a beautiful prayer.
Ephesians 3: 14-19
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Every time I read this prayer it reminds me of the overwhelming and infinite amount of love that the Lord has for us. It also reminds me that the only way we will feel fully satisfied and loved is through Jesus Christ Himself. Only 0.75% of people in Southeast Asia believe in Jesus and it absolutely breaks my heart. Most of them have not heard of this perfect love and they are trying to find their satisfaction in darkness and evil practices. This is tragic and means most Thai people spend their eternity separated from God. 95% of Thailand is Buddhist and filled with an abundance of temples, idols, and spirit houses. Monks walk the streets in the mornings collecting alms from people trying to earn merit. Most of them have never had a chance to hear the Gospel to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.
My prayer is that Jesus will work in and through my team to help unreached people understand and grasp how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ truly is. I pray that we will be established and rooted in love while being a light in such a dark place. My prayer is that these unreached people will experience the fullness of God in a supernatural way that is only achieved by the Holy Spirit.
