"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.'" Matthew 16:24-25
I'm losing my life.
I want a new one.
This is the cost of following Jesus.
I'm sacrificing my hopes, dreams, familiarity, and life in want of discovering new hopes, dreams, familiarity and life that aline with God's.
Going on the World Race is a huge leap of faith for me, I will not be working for 11 months. In fact, I have to raise the money to support myself for that year, $15,500, to be exact, plus a little extra for air fare to and from training camp, backpacking supplies, international health insurance, and various other things.
Some people have told me I'm crazy.
Some people said how are you going to do it?
I say, God will provide.
I know this is what I'm supposed to be doing.
God will make a way.
But that doesn't mean I can't work for it. I can't sit around waiting for the money to just appear in my account. My mobilizer told us yesterday that we need to make fundraising a part time job. I believe in this mission so much, that I will be making fundraising another part time job.
Here are the facts:
- $3,500 – Due 5/6/2012
- $6,500 – Due 6/17/2012
- $11,000 – Due 10/1/2012
- $15,500 – Total Due 1/1/2013
If you believe in my mission and you want to take a part in it to make it our mission,
there are several ways you can help.
Prayer.
I need lots and lots of prayer. In our culture it seems like prayer is never a necessity because we are so comfortable, we know where our next meal is coming from, we know our routine, so the obvious need for prayer, doesn't exist. I really want to become dependent on prayer. As I enter this journey of depending on God and relying on prayer, I ask for a commitment of prayer.
Financially.
