Nkosi’s Haven

I cannot even begin to tell you what an amazing experience it was to
work with Nkosi’s Haven. Tiny who was our contact for the month called
the haven  ‘a home of regeneration’ for the women and that is exactly
what they do. The people who work and run Nkosi’s are incredible human
beings who have dedicated their lives in order to better the lives of
others.

During the month my team along with myself worked on several different
projects for the haven. We spent countless hours organizing a shed
full of clothing and transformed the shed into a clothing store for
the women. Our boys worked on computers, organized offices and the toy
store, while the girls spent time listening to and recording the
stories of the women in order to help create employment opportunities
for them. And we all got to spend two days at the Nkosi farm, weeding
the tomato garden and getting the ground ready to help plant potatoes.

In the evening we participate in the bible studies and prayer time
held by the women and after we would do the insanity workout with the
older girls.

Our month in South Africa was an amazing one. Nkosi’s Haven is an
extraordinary organization. Please if you have time check out their
website.  The women and children are absolutely beautiful. I don’t
want to leave this place and even more I don’t want to leave these
people.

Not only do I have to say goodbye to this place but this in the end of
our time in Africa. I’m heartbroken about having to leave but I know
it’s only goodbye for now. I love this continent and I know one day
I’ll be back.
