He is here

I feel it
thin place

heaven and earth collide

changed perspecrive
tortillas
taught by village women
learning to make a
tortilla
dough falls apart
in my hands
hands
scrub clothes in the pila
soap stains
clothes never fully clean
clothespins hold clothes on clothing lines
clothes
pin
my heart for my team to see
vulnerability
doesn’t come naturally to me
but worth it
every time it’s worth it
the gift
of being open
creates trust in the
broken
parts of us

and the Lord is present in the ocean
His roaring, crashing, devotion
gazing in awe
night lightning over
the waves
stirring majesty
out of control
control
let it go
fall at Your feet and
walk in surrender
it’s a cross
choose to bear it

daily

commute
bus crammed
sweaty, loud, peace
bodies tired
hearts
squished people so they
have us sit on top
we’re often placed on top
but we’re the most entitled
poverty hearts
shouldn’t be on the bus
because we have much to learn from
walking
in their shoes

He’s in the every day
in house visits and hair brushing
didn’t brush for two months
tangled hair
lice for a month
special friends
I can’t remove them myself
walk in humility
ask hannah to remove it
itches
never leaves
but
worth it
because the children I hugged
who had bugs in their hair
but smiles on their faces
are worth it
over
and over
every day
they are worth it

beauty
around us
demands to be seen
yet
not demanding at all
but we’re too busy with the screen
in our hands
to witness the glory in
the sky
the mountains
the people
and where you wouldn’t expect it to be
In sickness
suffering
and death
because perspective changes everything
when it gets hard
gratitude saves us
where we can be wrecked
still thankful
the Lord is
good

we’re falling
hard
wildly
in love
with the Spirit
Father, Son
a life in love with the Lord
is not what I guessed
messy but beautiful
a price we pay
to bring glory
the cost of being a disciple
is missing holidays
loss of comfort
cold showers
and sacrifice
sacrifice means “to make holy”
so thank the Lord
we are being made like Him
and thank the Lord
we are not the same as when we came
the cost of being a disciple
is
a heart transformed for Christ
a community joyfully alive
new family in foreign lands
sitting at the
same table

we’re worshipping louder than before
voices joined
in harmony for a Savior
hearts postured to the One

out of time already
three quick months
gone
but it’s only the
start in our hearts

every moment
He was there
