Silence.
Silence is “complete absence of sound.” Silence is something most people hate but something I relish.
Silence is refreshing to the soul.
Silence is peaceful.
Silence is rest.
Silence is sweet.

Being one who doesn’t talk much, I have observed that most people are not like me when it comes to views on silence. Most people are scared of being silent. They are so scared that they will do anything to avoid it…watch TV, talk incessantly, listen to music, read a book, have any noise in the background to ease their fear of silence. They flat out can’t stand sitting still and being silent. They can’t stand it because they are afraid of what they will hear…the lies and voices that scream at them…they are even afraid of what the Lord will reveal to them in silence.

I find that when I am silent and when I sit in silence with no noise around me, Daddy speaks. He speaks all the time but sometimes I don’t hear Him unless I’m silent and just sitting in His presence.

Today, he whispered to me:
“Be still and just rest in my presence. Know that those lies and voices that consume your mind don’t hold you captive. Listen for me…that still small voice. I speak through the birds that sing. I speak through the rain that makes a pitter-patter on the roof. I speak through the sound of the wind blowing through the trees.”
Today, he said that people need to know that silence is okay. It is necessary…it is healing and a part of the growth process. It isn’t something to fear. Silence is to be embraced.
