This is Mariluz. She is the epitome of light, it is literally dwelling inside her name. I wanted to share a brief blog of what she represents and how I have learned from her much more than she has learned from me.

Mariluz is a joyful little two-year-old with a rowdy three-year-old brother. Her patience when he knocks down her toys or jumps on top of her is truly astounding. Even if she is in pain or frustrated, Mariluz never stops giving love and joy. She boldy loves, she offers her love to everyone. She allows herself to be cared for by all, never withholding her desires or tender heart from them. Mariluz laughs. She laughs at the little things, she is fascinated by the Lord’s creation. When she smiles, her little dimpled cheeks light up a room and give life to all who see her. Mariluz draws people to her light, she is a fascinating and intriguing child. She has freedom and calls others to be free with her, she has an innocent heart that calls others to be innocent with her.

Who knew that a 2-year-old is who I want to be when I grow up one day? I think all of us can learn quite a bit about our relationship with God and with each other, just by watching her. I aspire to be so bold, so free, and so tender as Mariluz.

Pray for her, that her light would continue to shine as she grows, that she never stops being the innocent and loving child she is today. She will draw others to the light of the Lord, I am absolutely sure of it. After all, light is in her name.

And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.'” Matthew 18:2-4
