Hello! Thanks for taking a look at my blog! This is my very first time blogging, so I am very excited!
I was born and raised in Beaufort, NC, a tiny town on the coast. It is a very cool town, and what's even cooler is that I grew up on a cattle farm. My dad, as his "hobby," raises beef cattle, so my chores growing up were not exactly what I would call typical. I have an older brother and an older half sister, who is married and has two boys, and lives just 45 minutes away from us. I have 2 supportive parents, my dad, who own a building supply business, and my mom, who doesn't have a paying job, but volunteers for anything and everything that she can.
I left Beaufort to go to college in the very land-locked middle of North Carolina at a fabulous university called Elon. I'm graduating in May 2012 with a degree in Music. I absolutely love writing music more than any other aspect of music. I have been very lucky to study music at a school with such nurturing, supportive professors. I literally walked into my first composition lesson knowing nothing about composing, and expecting to complete this ridiculously ambitious composition project. Instead of laughing at me, as he probably should have, my mentor has supported me from the very beginning. And that's just one example of the amazing professors I got to learn from at Elon.
I would say that I officially "met" Jesus my sophomore year of high school. I went to church my whole life, but somehow I missed the whole "relationship" aspect of being a Christian. After a youth retreat where I realized that being a Christian wasn't about doing more good things than bad, I went about the process of figuring out how to live out a relationship with my Creator. I had no idea what I was doing, but the Lord was faithfully pursuing me the whole time and sent some phenominal people my way to be lights. My relationship with Jesus has led me to the most amazing places, including being a Young Life leader, studying music, and now, The World Race!!! I am so excited to see how the Lord is going to use me and how he is going to bring me closer to Him. I can't wait to fall even more in love with him while serving along side people who are doing the same!
