Recently, I’ve had some time to reflect on my heart, concerning why I decided to apply for the World Race.
I remembered praying one day and telling God that I was tired of being moved, but not moving. I was tired of seeing people broken, hurting, lacking, and in need of hope. I was tired of encountering people, be it a fellow shopper in a grocery store, or someone on the street, and seeing clearly that they were hurting or lost. I was tired of seeing news story after news story of the brokenness around the world. My heart was broken. I was frustrated and upset; yet I realized that I wasn’t doing anything to change what I saw.
I had to do something! So, I told the Lord that He had my “yes.” That I would move however He saw fit; however that may look. So far, it looks like praying for people I encounter as the Lord leads. It looks like providing food, clothing, or shelter to those in need. It looks like speaking words of life and identity over friends and family. It looks like sitting and listening to someone’s story; showing them that what they have to say and what they have experienced matters. It looks like reaching out to those who seem to be overlooked. It looks like being intentional in every interaction. It looks like interceding for a nation. It looks like financially supporting an organization or individual for a cause with which I connect. It looks like loving everyone around me, even when they hurt me. It looks like sharing the hope that I have in Christ with all those I meet. It looks like agreeing to go wherever the Lord sends me.
I am learning that as I move, as I take each step in faith, the Lord always directs and orders my steps. I am learning that I was created to do more than just be “successful” here in this life. I was created to do something that’s far bigger than me. I was created to be influential and to live in such a way that has eternal value…and so were you! I am learning that my obedience to the Lord, even in the seemingly small things, can change history…for an individual…for a family…for a nation…for the world, solely because of who God is.
So, what does your yes look like? Be the change that you want to see.
I really appreciate everyone who has supported and partnered with me on this journey so far!
Would you prayerfully consider partnering with me on this journey, be it financially and/or in prayer? Thanks!
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. ~2 Corinthians 3:1-3
