Where shall I start? I guess the best place would be leaving D.C. When leaving D.C. I had so many mixed emotions that I did not know what to think.
The first flight we had was 13 hours from D.C. to Dubai, and the second one was 9 hours from Dubai to Johanesburge. The flights were pretty tiresome and swelling. Yes, I mean swelling.. haha There were many of us with swolen ankles and feet, some people got to the point it looked horrible and painful. For me I just looked like I had more meat one my ankles. I wish I would have taken a picture, but I don not have one.
After the long flights we had to take a bus from Joanesburge to Mozambique. The first night of traveling was not too bad. However, there was one that was a little more crammed that what I had expected. After all of it is done and over with it wasn't too terribly bad, but we were all so tired that it made things seem a lot worse that what they really are.
The total hours it took for traveling to get to our location was about 80 hours. The apporxamit time was 79 hours 26 minutes. During this time people were very helpful and seaked to make everyone around them as comfortable as possible. We all helped eachother out even if at times it was hard and we would want to complain.
At my first site my team and I are going to be helping out at an orphanage. I cannot wait to see what will happen in the future and I will keep everyone post as much as possible. Hope all is going well! Love and miss you all.
