As I’m preparing for my big trip, I have quite the laundry list of things to do. I’ve even created a list for each month of things I’m trying to tackle. In all honesty it has been very overwhelming at times, but I’m always pleasantly surprised in the ways God has been encouraging me in my preparations. I would love to share some examples.
People: I’ve been absolutely blown away in the ways people have come alongside me in this journey. It’s been so encouraging to have so many cheerleaders! I appreciate the kind words and encouragement immensely.
Fundraising: I’m not sure how this happened, but I’m 25% funded!!!! Seriously, I’ve been so focused on getting Simon listed and ready for sale, I haven’t been able to give my fundraising the focus it needs. I was so downtrodden a couple weeks ago to log in to my account and see it jump from 3% – 20%. There were tears. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make my first deadline before training camp, and there the money was. It was a good reminder that while I do need to continue to push and pray, ultimately this money is being provided by God. Thank you to those who have donated!
Shots: This was way trickier and way more expensive than I thought. I never really thought I would look back and be so happy that I had my yellow fever when I went to Argentina the first time. Fortunately there was money set aside for that and I thanked God while I was signing for the couple hundred dollars worth of shots that the money was there.
Training Camp: Training Camp is in October and is the first fundraising milestone I had to reach. Fortunately that one is taken care of. However, flights were way more expensive than I thought and I was pleasantly surprised that the money from my garage sale was enough to cover the fare.
Simon: Simon is back home and has officially been listed. While it has been a bit much to run home every weekend, it has had its fair share of blessings. Home has offered me the chance to see friends and tell them about the World Race. It has also provided things that my heart didn’t even know it needed, like holding my daddy hand while walking to church, meeting Cupertino (my high school best friend’s baby, don’t worry his real name is Cooper), and being around my wonderful barn family.
So as I watch the pieces fall together, I am so thankful. I am so thankful for the people who have come alongside me to help me prepare, offered kind words, and embraced my adventure. I’m thankful that I have parents that are willing to help me bring Simon home and help me through this transition time. Finally, I’m thankful that I have a God that is capable of providing $16,500 and a home for my horse. Thanks for reading, the adventure is just getting started…
