It has been about a week since the yard sale, but I am just now reporting on it (sorry). It was a great success; definitely sold more than half of what we had… maybe 75%? We raised $315. And guess what? My international health insurance for the WR is $301.50 (God thing, anyone?). So of course I am going to pay for it with that money….. Bam!
Yard Sale = Health Insurance
I have to purchase and show proof of insurance by tomorrow and I really did not know how I was going to pay for it. I just kept waiting for God to do something. And yet again He showed up! (I mean, really, why am I surprised?)
Not to mention, my support has almost doubled since then. In the past week alone I received an additional $600! So that brings the total to $1,260.15 (not including yard sale money). God keeps pouring out the blessings and amazing me. That also means that I (well, really God) have $2,239.85 to raise by September 29 (that’s 2 weeks from tomorrow).
Training camp, which is 2 weeks after that (October 13-20), is coming up fast. I have to have most of my gear by then – at least the big, essential items, i.e. backpack, sleeping bag, etc. So far I have a tent. I will probably be posting something later about how you can help support me in a very tangible way by helping me buy gear.
When I first dwell on all that has to happen in the next month I start to panic and my hear rate goes up – which is already high to begin with. But then… I remember… what the Lord has done. He has already amazed me and provided in ways I could not have thought. Therefore, the key here (as in many things) is faith.
Now I leave you with a thought – I’m just throwing it out there… My mom sends me the Encouraging Word everyday from K Love (fyi mom: you don't have to do it anymore, I just signed up). You know what today’s was…?
“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken
together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount
you give will determine the amount you get back.”
–Luke 6:38 NLT
Can I get an Amen!? [insert shouts of joy and dancing around the room] This passage applies to both what you give of your life – not necessarily to me, but to the Kingdom – and what I have given and will give of mine as well. Pretty awesome timing I think 🙂
