You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

'Cause this is not about what you've done,
But what's been done for you.
This is not about where you've been,
But where your brokenness brings you to.
This is not about what you built,
But what He built to forgive you.

I heard this song on the way to church this past Sunday morning.  It really struck a chord with me.  We all make mistakes and do ridiculous things we wish we could take back.  But we can know that God has forgiven us because Jesus died on the cross for our sins, in our place.  He has given us new life and remade us.

“But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God…For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified… Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin” Hebrews 10:12, 14, 18

Sometimes I find this a difficult concept to grasp.  It is one thing to know this in your mind, but it is totally different to believe it and feel it.  I can’t even explain how I feel.

“I, I am he
who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,
and I will not remember your sins.”
                    Isaiah 43:25

How could someone love me that much?  How could the all-knowing God of the universe forget our sins?  Because He is that good, His is that awesome, and He is that loving, in the truest sense of the word.  It is supernatural and beyond our understanding.  The hardest thing for me to believe by faith is that all the mistakes, problems, and poor choices are in the past. They do not define me.  I am made whole and given new life by Christ; my purpose and my calling are greater than these.  Praise the Lord!  Heavenly Father, help me to believe this and walk in life as if I do.
