Letter to You

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well.  I am writing to inform you about new things that are taking place in my life. Several months ago I saw a video at church about a girl around my age going on missions with The World Race.  Immediately my heart was filled with joy and excitement at this abandonment of the American Dream and opportunity to serve!  Since college I have been interested in reaching out to people in other countries to meet their physical and spiritual needs.  I have great compassion and empathy for the lost, poor, and suffering people in this world.  This year God confirmed to me that I was meant to be a missionary in some capacity sometime in my life.  I prayed and found that he is leading me to The World Race in 2013.
           
The World Race is a program with Adventures In Missions in which you serve as a missionary for 11 months in 11 different countries around the world.  This is an opportunity for those of us in the program to minister to others, learn to love and serve God’s people, cultivate community, and grow closer to the Lord as we discover more about ourselves.  It is the essence of one of my favorite phrases, “Lord, break my heart for what breaks yours.”  We will work with local churches and communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, help orphanages, and minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking. I want to show the love of Christ to the people I will meet on the trip in China, Philippines, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Albania, Romania, India, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
           
I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity and know that God will provide because He has called me.  I have prayed that God will use you to do so.  I believe God will move on the hearts of those he has chosen to support me so I am asking that you consider partnering with me through prayer and/or financial support. Any amount of financial support or prayer is greatly appreciated and honored by God.  The cost is $15,500 to cover all of the expenses of this trip that I will be leaving to go on in January of 2013. That includes all transportation – land, air, and sea – food, lodging, as well as administrative, training, and coaching costs prior to the race.
           
Checks can be made payable to Adventures In Missions and sent to P.O. Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470; in the subject line write "The World Race – Mary Evans."  Donations can also be made online by clicking “support me” on the side bar to the left.  It will give you the option of a one-time payment or a recurring payment using your debit card, credit card, or bank draft (electronic check).  All donations are tax deductible.  If 52 people pledge to give $50 a month for 6 months, I will have surpassed my goal!
 
I can’t wait to see how God is going to transform my life and the lives of others during the next year and a half!  It is my prayer that through this journey I can bless the lives of others, including you.  I hope that you will follow my blog where I will be writing about the exciting things that God is doing!  May God bless you as you consider partnering with me in this ministry.
