The day at training camp the seven of us were put into a group we came up with our team name. For some reason I kept thinking that it needed to be about hope in some way. We also came to the realization as a group that we, as women, struggle with our identity and self-worth. We are, however, valued and cherished by our creator more than we could ever know – in him we find our hope and joy. These verses speak to that and are where we derived our name:
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
~Luke 12:6-7
“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?
