Yesterday we went to the Loyalty School and it was probably one of the best ministry days so far. It was so nice to get to do ministry with actual people – that they were kids made it even better. I went to help out in the 2nd and 3rd grade class. Some of the kids didn’t really listen and there were two in particular that were fooling around. Finally the kids split and spread out all over the room to do their assignments. I went to check on these two boys because they were not working. I sat down with them and went through the storybook with them. They were supposed to be copying down the sentences. It was difficult but I was able to keep them on track and they got a lot done. It was so exciting – maybe not for them, but it was for me.
However, in the beginning I spent some time talking to the principal. I could really see his heart for the kids and this generation to be raised up better than the last. About 80 % of birth certificates do not have a father listed. Honduras has also had more and more gang members trafficking drugs, leading to a rise in homicide. You can feel the spiritual warfare in the air – it’s thick and tense, heavy and full of sin. Honduras, like many nations, is desperately in need of God. Tony and Zion’s Gate are doing so much to show people what life should really look like and to raise up a generation of men who are after God’s heart.
This month was challenging for me – which could have been expected since it was our first month on the race. Ministry was tough and tiring at many points. Getting used to living with so many people all the time was, and is, stressful. Having the same meals over and over gets really old. However, many good things are coming out of these experiences, which are only beginning to stretch me.
