Dear friends and family,

I am writing this letter to share with you the next opportunity that God has opened up for me. I was recently accepted to go on an 11-month mission trip called the World Race. The World Race is part of Adventures in Missions, an interdenominational missions organization that has sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989. The World Race is one of their trips, specifically for young adults to travel to 11 countries in 11 months. I will be leaving in August 2016 to travel to Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. While in each of these countries, my team will be partnering with local churches and ministries to serve in areas of need.

I am so thankful and excited for this opportunity! God has placed it on my heart to fulfill the Great Commission – to go and make disciples of all nations. I want to live for something more where my words and actions to reflect Jesus.  He is the perfect depiction of the Father’s heart toward us! I want to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and provide healing through His power. On the World Race, I will be living this way. All my possessions will be contained in a backpack for 11 months. I will be living in raw, authentic community. In each country we will be preaching the gospel, praying for the sick, and spending time with people in the lowest strata of their social system.

So here’s where you come in. There are two goals I need to accomplish as I prepare for this. The first goal is to create a prayer support team. In Paul’s letters to different churches in the New Testament, he often asked them to pray for his mission. Prayer is vital to this trip and to the fulfillment of the calling God has placed on me. If you would like to partner with me prayerfully, please subscribe to my blogs at marycox.theworldrace.org, and you will receive prayer update letters throughout my time on the World Race.

The second part of my preparation is fundraising. The total cost of the trip is $16,961 – which includes the costs of training, travel, lodging, food, and other necessities while abroad. That amount of money is overwhelming, but I know that the God who called me to this is faithful to provide. I have seen God perform miracles in the area of finances and am confident that if God is asking you to give, He will provide for all of your needs as well. While you may not be traveling to a distant country, you are still doing something significant by enabling me to walk out my call. By supporting this mission with a tax deductible contribution, you are a part of God’s Kingdom work! We know that God wants to bless through this, and with you on my team, He can bless us both. You can follow my financial progress and blogs or find more information on donating at marycox.theworldrace.org.

I am praying that God would place on your heart the best way for you to support me. I am so excited to see how God will work and be glorified in this process!

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” Romans 12:12.

All my love,

Mary Elizabeth Cox
