This was a blog post from July 4th, 2014 – We were in an airport in India!
If I had internet today I would have updated my facebook status to be “One Canadian sitting in an airport in India with 44 Americans on the 4th of July”. I celebrated Canada Day on July 1st with instant tattoos, maple taffies, and Happy Canada Day to everyone. It made me feel loved when everyone said it back.
We are on our way to being on the field!!! It’s amazing and crazy all at the same time to BE a World Racer. It’s no longer an elusive thing that I’m going to be doing…it’s my real life. I am amazed that God has called me and has provided. My spirit leap with joy when I saw the India Air plane outside the terminal in Chicago. As I type this my squad has survived Launch and are sitting in an airport in India, waiting for our flight to Nepal in the morning. We had a 14 hour flight and are in the middle of a 19 hour stopover. Sleeping on the floor without my big pack is fun right? Since it’s our first travel day, and overnight airport visit…it is pretty exciting.
And although a pair of pants ripped the day before launch (one less thing to pack right?), my tablet stopped 9 hours before we left for the airport (it is now working), we had some mixed up flights first thing Wednesday morning, and my toothpaste exploded in my carry-on (thankfully it was in a baggie!)…we all got here and are ready to go onto Nepal. I’m feeling in awe that this is my real life. I am so incredibly blessed to be sent out to love the lost, comfort the weak, and bless the needy. When I say this I don’t just mean the people we will be serving, I mean my squad-mates and ministry hosts too. We are all looking for more peace, joy, healing in our lives, we can all benefit from being loved.
So if you haven’t read that earlier, that’s what the World Race is all about for me…it’s about loving people because Christ loves me. God has continued to reveal who I am in Christ, to shift my perception of myself to who He created me to be. Over the last few weeks I have been struggling to “be still”, out of apprehension (and even fear) of how God wants to transform me, yet He has drawn close and given me a peace about this. I KNOW that I can trust His plan. And here in India (what?! India!!) I’m ready to trust Him. I can’t wait to live in community with my team and continue to “dive-in deep” alongside them.
