The hurting, the unloved, the broken in spirit…the least of those. Girls of all ages who have been abused, neglected, and hurt like no child should be. Children who believe they are worthless. Children who know nothing but caring for their younger siblings, cooking for their family, and caring for the home.

These children are valuable. These children have worth. These children are loved.

Caring for girls who have not been cared for before. Loving children who haven’t experienced love. Valuing girls who have believed they are worthless. Marla’s House of Hope strives to change the lives of girls who have been removed from abusive homes. Providing hope for a future is just one of the beautiful things that happens at Marla’s House of Hope in Belmopan, Belize.

At times when girls, of all ages, arrive to Marla’s House of Hope they don’t know what love looks like, they don’t know that they are precious daughters of God. For many girls, learning to walk in their worth takes time. As time progresses, the staff speak truth into the girls, they learn of the love of the Father, they experience acceptance. As they begin to believe they are valued, they begin to walk a little taller, trust a little deeper, and live out their identity in Christ.

Worth, value, and identity in Christ are things that I have had to learn to walk in. These are things the girls at Marla’s House of Hope get to learn, some from an early age. As we walked through their home, I was stuck at how this was a safe place for girls to be girls, for children to learn to be children, for daughters to learn they are loved by a good good Father.
